Award Year Timeline

ACSTO only requires one application, per student, per school year, not per deadline. We make Original and Overflow/PLUS Scholarship Awards four times per school year, for a total of eight awards. Scholarship applications for the upcoming school year become available on February 3rd.

Once we receive an application, we consider it in each qualifying award, up until the end of the current school year. All applications expire at the end of the school year, after our Spring Awards, regardless of when they were received.

Starting School Next Year?

This is the perfect time to begin this program! If your child will be attending K-12th grade at a Christian private school for the first time in the fall, you may apply for a scholarship during the Spring prior to when your child starts at the private school. Send in your application to ACSTO between February 3rd and March 31st, and any scholarships awarded to your child in the Spring Award Cycle can be used towards the upcoming school year. We will send the money directly to the school as tuition becomes due. A donor is welcome to donate to ACSTO and recommend your child for a scholarship up to one year before your child begins K-12th grade.

Kindergartners

In order to qualify for a scholarship, ADOR regulations state that a Kindergartner must turn five years old on or before December 31st during their Kindergarten year. Tax Credit Scholarships cannot be used to pay for Pre-K, K1-K4, playgroups, kinder-care, and/or intermediary summer school. In addition, the ADOR stipulates that parents should not knowingly enroll their student in Kindergarten with the intention of repeating it. There are exceptions for Pre-K handicapped children spelled out in A.R.S. 43-1601. Give our office a call for details regarding pre-K students with disabilities.

State regulations do not allow us to 'bank' money for children who are too young to qualify. The earliest you can begin raising recommendations for your child is one year prior to attendance at a private school for grades K-12. Anything received earlier than that will be considered for other children at that school.
